Medication Titration and Review Appointments

Our Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists are able to support children and young people aged 6+ on their journey with medication for ADHD or other mental health difficulties.

Medication Initiation Appointments

If your child or young person already has an accepted diagnosis, our psychiatrists offer initial appointments (1-hour) to discuss medication options and create a personalised treatment plan to support their needs. All medication initiation appointments are conducted online, via Microsoft Teams.

1 – Review of Diagnosis and Pre-Screening

If your child or young person has an accepted diagnosis, our psychiatry team will review previous assessment reports and Young Welllbeing Hub’s required pre-screening documents.

This helps us determine if a medication initiation appointment is suitable for your child’s needs.

2 – Referral Decision

Based on the review, our team will decide whether we can accept the referral for a medication initiation appointment.

3 – Booking the Initiation Appointment

Once the referral is accepted, we will book a 1-hour initial appointment for your child/young person.

4 – Initiation Appointment

During this appointment, our psychiatrist will:

  • Discuss medication options tailored to your child’s specific needs.
  • Create a personalised treatment plan to support their ongoing care.
5 – Next Steps

After the initial appointment, you will receive a clear plan for starting the recommended medication (if appropriate).

Your psychiatrist will advise you when to next book in for a Medication Review Appointment, along with any other support or preparation you may need.

Medication Review Appointments

Following a Medication Initiation Appointment or one of our Young Wellbeing Hub diagnostic assessments, our Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists offer follow-up appointments (25-mins) to support your child or young person as they progress through their treatment plan. All medication review appointments are conducted online, via Microsoft Teams.

Please see our Fees and Payment Options page to find out the costs of our Medication Titration and Review appointments.
