Unsure where to start?
Children and young people's mental health is a crucial aspect of their overall well-being, shaping their development, relationships, and future opportunities.
Like adults, they can experience a wide range of mental health conditions, but these often manifest differently in younger individuals. Understanding these conditions and providing appropriate support are essential for fostering healthy growth and resilience.
At Young Wellbeing Hub, our clinicians are extensively trained in providing a compassionate and supportive ear for children and young people who may be experiencing mental health conditions.
Pathway information
In this in-depth consultation, your psychiatrist will explore and discuss any difficulties your young person has been facing. They will delve into the child’s present and historic experiences, their developmental history, family dynamics, educational and social environment in a supportive environment where their voice matters.
Our compassionate clinicians offer a listening ear and personalised guidance, honouring your child’s story and fostering resilience. They will spend time with both parent and child to establish how everyone can support the child going forward, and discuss any treatment recommendations that may be applicable.
If you suspect that mental health symptoms may be related to other medical conditions, our Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist can help to establish understanding through a medically informed approach.

The diagnostic general assessment is suitable for children/young people aged 5+.
The diagnostic general assessment is conducted by a Young Wellbeing Hub Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist online, via Microsoft Teams, and lasts for 90-minutes. Parent and child/young person are required to be present for this assessment.
There are no specific pre-requisites for a diagnostic general assessment upon a successful referral.
To make a new referral, all new patients must firstly access our initial pre-screening service, and fulfil our inclusion criteria. Therefore, please ensure you have reviewed our inclusion and exclusion criteria and are happy to proceed to the next stage.
The fee for a diagnostic general assessment is £750. If you would like to see our full service price list, please refer to our fees and payment page.
If your child/young person would like to access medication to help manage their difficulties, our consultant child and adolescent psychiatrists will be able to help to create a personalised treatment plan using medication. Please see our medication titration services page for more information.
If you are less interested in accessing medication for your child/young person, and more interested in developing a blueprint of experiences with a psychologically informed treatment plan, our extended psychological assessment may be more suitable for you.
